"A great competition, well organised and run. For a first time participant it could not have been easier. Congratulations on an outstanding event. All my students liked it more than debating (Which was not expected!)"
Craig Morrison, Scots College, Wellington, New Zealand
"I can't emphasise enough the positive feedback that the silver medal has had not only on participating students but many others as well. To witness the positive affect that this has had on the school community as a whole is what makes teaching & working with young people so very worthwhile & rewarding. Thanks again."
Dr David Turner, Hornsby Girls High School, NSW, Australia
"This was an excellent event. Our students greatly valued the experience and are still talking about the cases and their involvement. Thank you to all the judges who showed great patience and generosity in there comments and facilitation throughout the competition.”
QLD Senior Students Ethics Olympiad Coach
"The nature of this event being collaborative yet competitive is wonderful and so needed in our increasingly polarised world with algorithm-driven news feeds, where discourse is lacking. It was wonderful to have the expertise of skilled, highly qualified thinkers as moderators. ....Overall, a wonderful event."
Glenda McCarthy, Centralian Senior College, NT, Australia
“Thank you for such a wonderful event. You create a safe space and the tools for students to discuss and grapple with sensitive and complex issues. It was a pleasure to watch my students significantly develop logical, balanced, and nuanced ideas. I love the emphasis on respectful discourse, and the opportunity for students to learn from experts in the ethics field. Thank you to the entire team. You are all wonderful!”
New Zealand Senior Ethics Olympiad Coach
"Many of our students have said this is the most meaningful extracurricular learning experience they have had. It was incredible to watch the students develop their ethical understanding and critical thinking skills - the cases and questions were all fantastic. I cannot recommend the Olympiad enough!!"
Aliesha Simmons, Selwyn School, Auckland, New Zealand
“I introduced the Ethics Olympiad program on my arrival at St Leonard’s College in 2019. Year on year, the cocurricular program has gone from strength to strength, with our senior teams winning gold in Victoria and our middle school teams succeeding too. The College has trusted me to develop the religious education curriculum so that we foster critical thinking whilst engaging our students with different worldviews, concepts and philosophies. This curriculum, alongside the competition, has meant our students have confidence to engage with ethical issues and I can’t wait to see where we go from here."
